He was a commodore when he met my mother and proceeded to his rankings an admiral in the Nigerian navy and came to England a few times. He dated my mother during 1972-1974 In Portsmouth. I’m not sure if he moved to England’ he used to have a nickname which was Ben. A kind man who dated my mother Sandra Stear from Chichester then my mum moved to Portsmouth. My dad was also known to drive a brown cortina or mini car. His birthday was November and would be aged 69/70. He served on NNS Anansa and did his officer training in England. | Message: | I met David Owens on Sunday 5th August 1956 at Shanklin, Isle of Wight, he was in the Royal Navy, his cap badge read HMS THESEUS. We spent the day together and when I got home, a few days later he telephoned me at work. I could not hear him very well and said so, with that this work colleague who was with me when I met him, shouted "give me that" and took the phone from me and spoke to him herself. She was jealous he had phoned me and not her and she was not having me speak to him. I never heard from him again, not even a letter, he had my address. I was heartbroken, devastated, as I liked him very much. Now 60 years on I have never forgotten him and often think I would like to make contact with him. He came from Liverpool. | |
